  • Mission Espada
  • Built in 1731, it was the only one of the very early missions made of bricks.
  • The mission was the center of a busy community of Indians that were taught skills by the priests such as blacksmithing and carpentry.
  • Mission San Juan
  • This mission was also build in 1731 and was the center of agricultural trade. At one time it had a herd of 3500 sheep and nearly as many cattle.
