Temple, Texas
Located north of Austin, Temple is a wonderful mid-sized city that blends high tech with high touch. The economy here was once primarily based on agri-business and the Santa Fe Railroad. Now, Temple has become a medical mecca and blossoming bio-tech center.

Finding a Key to the Lock
Listed as "Lock & Dam #3", it was slated to be one of 8 such structures along the Brazos River in the early 1900s. The goal was to create a fully navigable route from Waco to the gulf to transport cotton and other produce to the port of Galveston and beyond. The system of locks & dams never were completed. This remnant can still be seen near Hearne, TX on Hi-way 485.
