These small but very rugged boats were our means of making multiple landings in Antarctica.

  • Penguins are also quite vocal and announce their presence for various reasons.

  • Chinstrap penguins are a bit more aloof but can appear quite comical in their appearance.
  • All penguins must molt each year to ensure a thick covering of waterproof feathers.
  • Molting penguins cannot swim and must just sit/stand and wait until the last of the old feathers is shed.
  • Molting penguins can have interesting "hair styles".
  • A more pensive moment- likely staring at a pebble which is needed for nest building.
  • When they get too hot, their only way to dissipate heat is to lie in the snow and expose the soles of their feet.
